  • WHAT CAN BE DONE

    WHAT CANNOT BE DONE

Plug placement

  • Use a crown or make a cut to embed the plug. Overlap the plug and fill from the sides.

Place mastic over the plug as it must be accessible.

Mastic falling behind the joint

  • To prevent the mastic from falling out, the joints can be filled with polyurethane foam, paper or cardboard (skeletal structures).

    Fill with plastic.

The panel gets a lot of stains since the joint is very small.

  • Apply the mastic using a silicone cartridge or a plastic bag (pastry bag type)

Clean excess with cleaning product or another, as it damages the final finishes.

What distance should be left between panels?

  • In regular panels (brick, carved P.), take into account the size of the bricks and the shape of the joint, to leave enough space for the volume of the mastic. In irregular panels (P. seca) approximately 5 millimeters.

Leave the panels very close together, as it does not allow the mastic to enter the joints.

How to make the joint of the new brick and strip it?

  • It is recommended to make the joint in tongue and groove.

Leave the panels at a different level, since their special texture makes it difficult to place the mastic.

How is the board joint made?

  • The panel joints must be set very well at the same level and cuts must be made to match the stones and thus break the straight line of the joint.

Place the mastic only as a filler, since a bead is generated that shows the presence of the joint.

Yes I have two stones of different texture.

  • Place mastic over the entire area and generate a unique texture.

Place only mastic in the joint since a stone with three different textures is generated.

To make the texture of the ashlar stone.

  • Place a lot of mastic and stretch, waiting for the mastic to pull to turn the tips.

    Make holes with the drill.

Generate stripes and marks.

  • To make the stripes and indentations of the different textures, it is recommended to make them just when the mastic is pulling, so as not to undo the shape.

    Use abrasive tools.

The material is transparent.

  • To avoid translucency, the area should be painted on the back side of the material with a dark-colored paint.

    Adhere non-translucent materials.

Installation of panels with different colors.

  • Paint the entire joint and unify stones and/or bricks or use scrubbed finishes, glazes, or patinas.

Paint only the joint or only the stones and/or bricks, especially if plastic paints are used.

The board shines.

  • Try to eliminate the gloss-generating agents (using low-paraffin solvents, sanding, etc.), apply a very thin base of matte plastic paint, and paint with the corresponding colors.

Apply layers of paint to cover the shine, as it can create a repaint effect.

The paint does not set and disperses, like water and oil.

  • Use a degreaser that does not damage the color of the panel and once the area is cleaned, paint normally.

    Use aggressive degreasers.

Very dark color once applied.

  • For very dark or unnatural colors, the tone should be softened by wiping with acetone or sanding and using the color compound to tone and blend.

Apply layers of lighter color, as it increases the repainting effect.

Installations near heat sources.

  • Considering that the panel subjected to temperatures of 140/180 oC in an oven causes the panel to reach temperatures of 100 oC without catching fire and taking into account that panels above 70 oC suffer softening (applied temperatures not flames), it is possible to install the panel near heat sources in accordance with the above. GUIDANCE DATA.

Place near sources of excessive heat, exposed to flames, inside fireplaces or similar. The responsibility always falls on the installation.

The color doesn’t paint.

  • Mix well and apply the color modification method. Mix do not shake.

Give many hands as it will not cover.

The mastic is dry.

  • Remove the top layer that is dry and use the rest normally.

Mix all the mastic since the dry parts will bother you when texturing.

Very liquid chew.

  • Catalyze and wait for a minimal reaction (pull) and apply normally, controlling the drying time.

Apply directly, as it will sag and make the texturing process difficult.

The new accelerator inks the mastic.

  • The red catalyst has been developed precisely to differentiate the activated mastic and thus create a homogeneous mixture. It does not affect the final color of the mastic if the recommended proportions of use are used.

Catalyze excessively to avoid generating an unwanted coloration, nor catalyze below what is necessary as this will affect the drying time.

The joints arch, forming peaks.

  • This bowing must be corrected with good fixation of the panels, especially at the perimeter and especially at the junction of panels to maintain optimal levels for the placement of the mastic.

Try to correct the difference by placing mastic since we generate a larger lump.

The panel joints do not match.

  • Depending on the models, the joints between panels may or may not match. If they do not, we must proceed by making cuts at the junction of the panels so that we draw the shapes that we will later generate with the mastic.

Try to join all the stones with the mastic, since what we will achieve will be a cord without defined shapes and that will not coordinate with the rest of the panel.

Material breakage.

  • You must proceed by fixing the broken parts and hiding the breaks or cracks with the mastic.

Discard the broken pieces and make square cuts to maintain the original shape of the panel.

There are colored stripes on the panels.

  • Paint with color to cover, if it is not covered, place a thin layer of mastic and apply the color normally.

Use solvents to remove color streaks.

The panels have bubbles.

  • As far as possible, use the bubbles to place the fixing screws. Camouflage bubbles and screws in the same way.

Paint the bubbles, it is necessary to even out the texture first.
